
Services: Human Resources
Payroll- Supervise and administer payroll using SmartHR. All data is stored at DL so payroll reports can be manipulated and printed upon request.
- Coordinate Direct deposit of payroll
- Coordinate deposit of payroll taxes
- Manage an efficient reporting system for the MN Teachers Retirement Association (TRA) and MN Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA).
- Coordinate payment of wage garnishments, retirement contributions and other deductions as needed
- Generate quarterly and year-end filings, including W-2s
HR Administration
- Schedule 1-2 hour onsite consultation with director each month to discuss subject matter pertaining to contracted services
- Maintain office hours onsite to help employees with issues regarding the subject matter pertaining to contracted services as needed
- Consult with the board regarding HR policies when requested; recommend HR policies for board approval
- Help employees and director settle informal work-related conflicts through advice and recommendations
- Advise and discuss federal, state, and local legislation changes affecting employment law
- Prepare and submit annual STARS report
- Maintain property and liability insurance coverage secured by school and remit claims as needed
- Coordinate annual renewal with property and liability broker
- Evaluate Unemployment Insurance payment options based on needs of the school
- Ensure proper postings of Federal and State Employment laws
- Recommend and maintain employee handbook
- Recommend and maintain school policy book
- Recommend and maintain school handbook for parents
Employee benefits
- Supervise, administer, and track employee benefits such as health, dental, disability, life, and other board approved plans
- Ensure compliance of benefits with applicable federal, state, and local laws
- Conduct annual open enrollment. Complete additions, deletions, changes and terminations for employees enrolled in sponsored benefits
- Employee liaison between the employees and the insurance company by handling benefit inquires for employees
- Recommend and research possible changes in the benefits package for employees
- Provide annual benefits training for all employees. Other informational meetings may also be organized per the request of the director
- Maintain employee utilization of benefit records, including tracking various time-off policies for employees
- Coordinate COBRA enrollment and termination
- Recommend and maintain employee benefit handbook
Employee Compensation
- Analyze, develop, implement, and maintain compensation policies and pay structure consistent with school's strategic objectives
- Analyze impact of compensation and benefit plans on recruitment and retention
- Analyze and evaluate pay rates based on internal worth and external market conditions
- Conduct benchmarking compensation surveys
- Analyze and implement FSLA regulations
Occupational Health, Safety, and Security
- Recommend safety programs for clients
- Develop safety training and conduct training to all staff
- Recommend emergency response plans (natural disasters, threats)
- Maintain OSHA log & OSHA yearly reporting
- Accident investigation
- Follow and maintain workers compensation claims
- Recommend security plans to protect client from liability
- Recommend security plans to protect employees
Recruitment, Retention, & Employment
- Conduct yearly sexual harassment training
- Conduct job analysis to write job descriptions and develop job competencies
- Identify and document essential job functions
- Recommend and administer internal and external recruitment methods
- Recommend and administer selection procedures, including interviewing, testing, and reference, licensure validation and background checking
- Recommend and conduct orientation process
- Administer post-offer employment activities (New hire paperwork and employment letters)
- Maintain employee records
- Track licensure expiration
- Create employee reports
- Track employee education
- Administer and coordinate leave (FMLA, medical, sabbatical, extended leave)
