Kate Docken

Kate Docken joined Designs for Learning in August 2025 as Director of Special Education, bringing over 17 years of experience supporting special education students. Previously, she worked at Seven Hills Preparatory Academy, where she began as a special education teacher, later became the school's special education coordinator, and spent the last seven years as director of special education.
Kate provides customized special education leadership and compliance support to seven partner charter schools, both on-site and remotely, depending on each school's unique needs.
She earned her bachelor's degree in child psychology and youth studies from the University of Minnesota, her teaching license and master's degree in education from Augsburg University, and her administrator's license from St. Mary's University.
Outside of work, she loves spending time with her two daughters, getting outdoors as much as possible, running, and even competing in puzzle tournaments!
